Originally aged in first-fill bourbon casks before being finished in Marsala casks for its final year of maturation. It has a lovely toffee colour and that’s apparent in the nose alongside bournville chocolate and the tang of red wine.
On the palette is chocolate and coffee with a dentist like overtone of oil of clove.
The finish is all honey and toffee that turns to treacle as it slips down your throat.
I think this is now quite rare but would recommend a dram if you see it in a bar.
