The first thing that strikes you about this dram is the incredible colour that comes from maturation in Oloroso sherry casks.
The nose is instantly treacle with the sweetness of brown sugar and fudge.
On the palette is the taste of cigar smoke with a hint of orange and the spiciness of Christmas cake with hazelnuts.
The finish is really long with blackcurrant, honey and sweetness like a thick maple syrup. It’s 46%abv and therefore full bodied and has a nippiness on the tongue.
Whilst it’s similar to Macallan 18 year old, it has enough personality to be different.
