Many of my pals drink Highland Park and swear by it. I always thought it was a dram that wanted to be an Islay malt when it grows up but I’ve reassessed my opinion
It’s smoky on the palate with very subtle peaty overtones, these however aren’t bold enough to make you think you’re drinking an Islay malt. There’s heather and sweetness there too and it’s a taste that lingers
The aftertaste is honey with oranges with a bit of salt there too. This isn’t dissimilar to Scapa which is no real surprise as they are to the north east of their fellow Orcadians
